End of the school year

As this school year draws to an end I am filled with mixed emotions. Part of me is glad I don’t have to drag my 6 year old out of bed every morning, pack lunches, run around in a frenzy trying to get them ready for school all while nursing and pumping for another tiny human. I don’t have to make three trips into town for drop off, pickup for my daughter, and then back hours later to pickup my son. No more worrying about homework, emptying folders, sifting through the dozens of papers that come home every week. No more stress of the drop off line(which by the way gives me major anxiety). I always find myself in the line that seems to take the longest when we have no time to spare.

Both of my kids had AMAZING teachers this year and we are going to miss them so much! It was a big year for Liam in Kindergarten. I had no idea what to expect, but he took everything in stride. My biggest fear was drop off which he handled like a pro from day one. Pippa is a morning girl and much more independent. She loves school and being able to talk with her teachers. She had a fantastic year and will be sad it is over.

The other part of me is wondering how I am going to manage everything this summer. The few hours Pippa would be at school was time I scheduled the farrier to come trim the horses hooves, when I fed all the animals, cleaned cages, cleaned water tanks, cleaned the house etc. They are great little helpers but doing all of that with three kids in tow is definitely a challenge.

How will I keep them from pestering each other non stop? Some days I think it is an agreement between them that only one of them can behave at a time. They get along great some days and other days they go out of their way to get on each others nerves. The heat will have us indoors as lot, and the last thing I want is for them to be stuck in front of the TV or playing the phone all summer.

We are kicking off the summer by making some playdough for a summer filled with fun creations. I have ordered some subscription boxes (which I will share as they come in), and the library near us has a ton of fun and best of all free events all summer long!

Will I survive this summer? Mostly likely yes but maybe with a few grey hairs.
